FIPD: Metallic Fuels Irradiation & Physics Database

FIPD is an organized collection of metallic fuel test pin data and documentation. The database includes pin operation conditions calculated using a collection of ANL analysis codes developed during the IFR program, including axial distributions for power, temperatures, fluences, burnup, and isotopic densities. The database also contains pin measured data from post-irradiation examination, including pin fission gas release and gas chemistry measurements, and axial distributions from profilometry, gamma scans, and neutron radiography. There is also an extensive collection of documents associated with different pins and experiments, including raw PIE data, design descriptions, safety analysis, and operational reports.

Recent Updates

May 19, 2025
  • Added new section for general reactor-level documents.
May 12, 2025
  • Corrected RCT run times and related power scale factors for very short runs, resulting in reduced calculated power, cycle DPA, and temperature data. This affects run 139C (X419B, X421, X423B, X425), run 156A (X425C, X430B, X431A, X432A, X448, X449, X450, X451, X481, X483, X484, X485, X486, X489, X492), and run 158B (X425C, X430B, X431A, X432A, X435A, X448A, X449, X450, X451, X481, X483A, X484, X485, X486, X489, X492A). Similar correction to the EMPT scale factor for run 134B (X419, X420, X421).
Jan. 27, 2025
  • Adjusted nominal fuel slug diameter and smeared density for pins in X419/X420/X421 experiments to correspond with as-fabricated results rather than original design targets. Updated related operating conditions (fuel surface/centerline temperatures).
  • Corrected pin loading locations for X419A/B, pins T055, T066, T086. Corrected related operating conditions for affected pins.
